How Have We Changed to Support and Encourage Working Parents?

This post-pandemic era is encouraging working parents to balance parenthood and their careers. Since the emergence of Covid-19, the form or style of work seems to have got more flexible than ever before. People around the world have started to work remotely, which brought the trend of WFH (Work from Home). At the same time, some working parents have been realizing that WFH allows them to find a better balance of taking great care of children while they are being productive working remotely. For working parents, it had been difficult for them to dedicate fully to the workforce, because of school schedules, emergency calls from school or children being sick at home. However, all these issues have been solved with the implementation of WFH. As a result, parents are now able to be closer to their kids every single day. It significantly helped working mothers and fathers to be able to focus more on their parenthood. Commuting had been consuming a large part of time every day that parents sometimes had to leave early or just on time when they were working at the office. Thanks to the transition to WFH, working hours and styles became more flexible so it helps parents not to sacrifice any of their parenting or working hours.

Simultaneously, this circumstance is beneficial for the team and corporations. Since there are fewer unusual schedules of employees, it turns out to be easier not only for the parents but also for their team to work productively to meet the deadlines. Moreover, working parents being able to dedicate additional hours to the team generates the spirit of being part of the organization and feeling a workplace is a safe place. But how can we create and keep a great company culture both inside and outside of work?

To retain the further good vibe between co-workers, I would suggest implementing something innovating and exciting! At Collaborative Perks, we are offering a module called ‘Linguistic Exchange’ and ‘Au Pair’. Both modules are to get to know each other while learning the language or culture of international colleagues. On these modules, they can join as a family so that colleagues who are with kids can share their issues or even create stronger bonds by interacting inside the platform. Embracing each other and showing or giving support to the families is essential for creating an innovative workplace. You can also connect not only online but also visit their home countries (homestays) to enjoy life outside of the working environment. Using such services inside and outside of work, employees with children will be able to feel that they are not alone balancing parenthood and labor.

Supporting and understanding each other is key to prospering and succeeding as a team and a company. Empathetic management and atmosphere will bring positivity to the organization. Keeping a good spirit is not something complicated, but rather we could change or participate in little activities to embrace each other to achieve the higher goals!
